Children Host Bake Sale & Lemonade Stand

Local children from Delhi recently held a successful bake sale and lemonade stand and decided to give the proceeds to the Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars Program. Josy Harmon, Jeorjia Harmon, Ethen Brockhohn and Emma Brockhohn prepared baked good items and sold them to customers that stopped by the sale in Delhi. They also dabbled at some marketing to further the sale's success and created posters to hang up at local businesses and shared information about the sale on a Facebook post to drum up local support. In total, they hosted three bake sales and decided that on the third sale, they donate all of the proceeds to Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars. Their donation totaling $130 was given to the program to be put towards a direct scholarship. Each of the children attend Maquoketa Valley in Delhi, and when asked why they chose to donate, replied that they know the MVDFS is a great organization that helps the Maquoketa Valley seniors. In return, their giving will hopefully come full circle upon graduation and choose to go to college. These aspiring philanthropists will then see the benefits of giving back and receive a scholarship from the successful scholarship program.
